Frequently asked questions
Why do portals ask for a photo under 200KB?
Application and job portals limit upload sizes to keep their servers fast. A phone camera photo is usually 2–6 MB, so compression is almost always required before uploading.
Does compression spoil my photo?
At 70–80% quality the difference is almost invisible on screen. Only at very low quality settings will you start to see softness, especially around text and faces.
JPG or WebP output — which is better?
JPG is accepted everywhere, including all Pakistani government portals. WebP files are smaller at the same quality but a few older systems do not accept them. When in doubt, choose JPG.
The target size could not be reached. Why?
A detailed photo has a minimum possible size at full resolution. Resize it to smaller dimensions with our Image Resizer first, then compress again.
