Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?

GPA is your grade point average for one semester. CGPA is the cumulative average of all semesters, weighted by credit hours โ€” so a semester with more credit hours affects your CGPA more.

Which scale do Pakistani universities use?

Most Pakistani universities follow a 4.0 scale where A = 4.00. Exact grade boundaries (for example the marks needed for a B+) differ slightly between universities, so treat this chart as the standard guide and confirm with your university's rules.

How can I improve my CGPA quickly?

Because CGPA is credit-weighted, improving grades in high-credit courses moves it the most. Retaking a failed or very low course (where your university allows it) can also raise CGPA significantly.

What CGPA is considered good?

As a general guide: 3.5+ is excellent (often Dean's list territory), 3.0โ€“3.49 is good, 2.5โ€“2.99 is average, and below 2.0 most universities place students on probation. Many scholarships and jobs ask for 3.0 or above.
